The children of the Punjab Golf Academy started playing golf in their village, Jandiali, near Ludhiana district back in April 2021. Picture this: a small group of 8-10 kids, during a lockdown, curious about the game. They had one club, a pitching wedge, and just 50 balls. But that didn't stop them. Life in Punjab wasn't easy; bad company and drugs were looming threats. But golf became their way out. It was more than just a game; it gave them direction. There were challenges, of course. The locals didn't quite understand what they were up to, and their practice net was taken down more times than they could count. With sheer determination, they pushed forward, teaching the kids with whatever resources they had. They connected with people online, sharing the kids' progress on Facebook. And miraculously, kind-hearted folks like Rakesh from Delhi noticed their efforts and lent a helping hand. A turning point came when they organized a golf tournament in their village, a first for them. Through the support of people like Ravi Shah and Amit Luthra, the kids got their hands on professional golf clubs for the first time. These kids, from humble backgrounds, squeezed in hours of practice in the cramped spaces they called home. The nearest golf course was a 150-kilometer journey, but that didn't deter their spirit. From 2021 to 2023, they managed to get the kids on the course whenever they could. They believed, with just 15 days of practice a month, these kids could shine. Their story is proof that passion and hard work can change lives, even in the face of adversity.

DECEMBER 2023 UPDATE:
In December, I contacted Mr. Vipin Dixit, who shared insights into the challenges faced by him and his junior golf academy in Ludhiana, India. Determined to make a positive impact, I initiated a donation drive to address the academy's needs, ranging from golf balls and shoes to clothing and clubs. With the support of friends, family, school, and the RSGA community, I leveraged online fundraising to raise over $7,100, and local drop-off/pick-up efforts to fulfill the juniors' needs. The response was overwhelming, which resulted in the accumulation of eight suitcases filled with essential items. In a heartwarming culmination, I personally traveled to India, where I met with Mr. Vipin Dixit and his students. Witnessing the sheer joy on the faces of the students as they opened the bags was a truly gratifying experience. The collaborative effort to support their passion for golf and enhance their training environment provided them hope and opportunities to achieve their goals.
